25+ years in technology began outside insurance entirely — software development and architecture across automation tech, a startup, manufacturing ERP systems, a theoretical physics research institute, and a SaaS energy-management and predictive-analytics company.

The move into insurance came as an early hire at Definity (then Economical Insurance), brought on as they launched Sonnet — Canada's first bind-online digital insurance company. Rose quickly into director-level leadership in architecture and big data, working three fronts at once: legacy systems at the established corporate carrier, a greenfield build for the new digital company, and the integration between the two.

From there to Fairfax Financial's innovation lab, working across a dozen of its global operating companies — spanning P&C, reinsurance, and specialty lines across Canada, the US, LatAm, the UK, Poland, and South Africa.

From there, full-time as Chief Digital and Technology Officer for Crum & Forster's A&H division, followed by several months designing SkyWriter Re, and now NorthLine Consulting.

That combination means the workflows, the compliance pressure, and the operational reality of specialty insurance were learned from the inside — not assembled from a case study template.
